Phoenix CO2 Laser Q & A
What is the Phoenix CO2 laser?
The Phoenix CO2 laser offers skin resurfacing to help improve the health and appearance of your skin. Laser energy targets your skin and removes very thin layers to reveal fresher, more evenly toned and textured skin.
Dr. Ardalan determines the amount of energy used for treatment depending on the area to be addressed and your aesthetic or health goals. The laser energy stimulates increased production of collagen, a protein in skin that offers improved strength and vibrancy to your complexion.
The CO2 laser can both “cut” or resurface your skin in a focused way without causing incisions or bleeding. The laser energy may also be directed in a pulsed manner, applying short bursts of energy to the skin.
What can be treated with the CO2 laser?
The CO2 laser re-surfaces the skin of your face to address specific cosmetic issues, including:
- Wrinkles and lines
- Pigment blotches
- Age spots on the face and hands
- Acne scars
- Sun damage
- Irregular skin texture
The laser is also a tool for wart removal and works by heating the wart’s blood supply until it is destroyed. Skin tags can be removed, too, with very little bleeding.
The Phoenix CO2 laser can also heal bags and puffiness under your eyes to give you a non-surgical eye lift (blepharoplasty). The laser accomplishes this by gently removing excess skin to tighten the delicate eye area.
What laser treatment is available for the vaginal area?
The laser may be applied to the tissue of the vaginal opening and vaginal wall to address issues that include:
- Vaginal dryness
- Painful sexual intercourse
- Vaginal itching
These symptoms often occur in conjunction with menopause, as the production of estrogen wanes. Dr. Ardalan sets up a treatment plan that includes one or more sessions to get you the results and comfort you desire.
What should I expect during recovery from laser treatment?
If you have laser treatment to your face, you’ll need to wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher diligently to protect the newly revealed, sensitive skin. Dr. Ardalan also offers a complete recovery plan that includes special moisturizers and directives for skin care after your treatment. Expect healing to take approximately two weeks, although everyone’s experience varies.
CO2 laser treatment for the tissue of your vagina has a different recovery plan, so you can consult with Dr. Ardalan for specifics.
